Sustainable Development GOALS

A Global Framework for Our Impact

The United Nation’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) define global aspirations agreed upon by all UN-member governments for 2030. It also provides a framework for organizations to report their efforts, as many major healthcare leaders are doing. From a 2022 consultancy workshop, our leadership selected the following as our main focus areas to track our progress against these shared goals for the greater good. We share our overarching goals and highlights of our latest efforts here:

Reduce Patient Food Insecurity

Following the launch of our patient Food Pantry program in 2022, we will continue plans to build on nutrition-education resources and other future offerings alongside our community partners.

  • Opened patient food pantries on-site at all 10 Practice Locations (read more)
  • Increased food volumes with new refrigeration space
  • Added SWAP nutrition education in pantries

Healthcare Access for All

The core of what we do is serving as central Indiana’s trusted non-profit for quality

healthcare, with or without insurance and regardless of patient needs. Our focus

remains on continuous improvements for access to care and addressing the social

determinants of health in our communities.

  • Serve a patient base that is almost 70% Medicaid or self-pay
  • Screened ~2K patients to support SDOH factors impacting well-being
  • Supported over 15% non-native-English-speaking patients

Ongoing Learning for Patients, Teams & Partners

From our online patient resource library and other post-visit educational

materials, to student/educational job opportunities, community partner resource

webpage and staff training opportunities, our aim is ensuring access to inclusive

growth opportunities for all.

  • Continue offering staff Six Sigma certification opportunities
  • Started new educational packs for pregnancy care and others
  • >20 providers with National Health Service Corp loan repayment

Equal Empowerment & Access

We maintain a commitment to gender equality across providing OB/GYN care,

regardless of ability to pay, partnering with women’s community support

services for patient referrals and supporting our majority-female workforce and

leadership team.

  • Added 5+ women in new Director/Manager leadership roles
  • Started Centering Pregnancy program in Anderson
  • Continue building community partnerships with Dove House and others

Keeping Our Team Top of Mind

Our focus is on diversity, equity and inclusion and development opportunities

across the hundreds of team members employed. Plus, maintaining policies for

fair hiring and labor practices, pay equity and, with efforts like our crisis planning,

prioritizing the safety and well-being of our staff.

  • Continue enhancing our crisis planning efforts for patient and staff safety
  • Created new Just Culture policy to encourage event reporting that helps us improve
  • Offered employee webinars on Compassion Fatigue, Financial Wellness and more

Caring for Our Communities

We actively collaborate with local government entities, organizations and

associations to collectively advance support resources, ensure equity of care and

otherwise improve how we meet the unique needs of our local populations.

  • CEO represented the FQHC model on Capital Hill with IPHCA
  • Grew Community Resource Navigator insurance support at community partner sites
  • Re-developed referral program efforts for underinsured with local hospital partners
